A Decline in Black-Owned Bookstores Signals a Worrisome Publishing Trend | Highbrow Magazine

We must support black owned bookstores, publishing companies and authors, NOW! The interest in, and production of black literature is on the decline and I refuse to stand by and watch.  Many of us share our stories and experiences through writing.  Many of us found our love for literature through reading about people we could relate to. We can’t allow black literature to diminish or lose its impact/place in prose.

Eventually, a time will come—not in our lifetimes, Comrades—but a time will come when the people will understand their power and the pigs’ machinery will be unable to accommodate their demands. That is when the people, black people and poor white people and oppressed people all over America, will rise up like a mighty tide and wash clean this beachfront of capitalism and racism and MAKE the revolution!

themostlovelygravestone asked: heya, Im from Detroit and I wanted to personally thank you for the pic you posted. A lot of people look at our high crime and unemployment rates and see numbers but not the struggling people behind them. I happen to have seen the homeless man in the bottom left corner at many sporting events begging outside, I am so so glad to see this, THANK YOU.

You are so welcome. It is so important for us to spread awareness, band together to support one another and discontinue supporting those who oppress us. Peace.
